Bellefonte man accused of intentionally setting home on fire, trying to kill relative will go to tri

A Bellefonte man who was arrested last month after police say he intentionally set fire to a relative's home due to an ongoing "feud" will soon head to trial.

Matthew Davis appeared in Centre County court Wednesday where he waived his preliminary hearing.

Police charged Davis in July after authorities say he allegedly stole a gas tank, "jammed" it into the back of an SUV and then set the vehicle on fire.

Investigators say the fire quickly spread to the home that it was parked in front of.

Authorities say Davis reportedly admitted that the homeowner was a family member whom he had a "long-running feud with."

Police say the homeowner was treated for smoke inhalation.

Davis is being held at the Centre County Prison on various charges, including attempted murder and arson.

A trial date has not yet been scheduled.
