Woman fights back during attempted robbery at Walmart parking lot

AUBURN, Wash. (KOMO) — A suspected victim is recovering from a gunshot wound after she reportedly defended herself during an attempted robbery.

Police in Washington responded to a shootout Tuesday morning in the parking lot outside of an Auburn Walmart.

Auburn police said two armed suspects attempted to rob a a 53-year-old woman sitting in her vehicle.

When the suspects demanded the woman's "property," she drew a gun and shot at them, according to police.. The woman was shot during the ensuing shootout, and she was eventually treated for "non-life-threatening injuries," police said.

A K9 unit searched for the suspects, who were taken into custody "after a successful track," police said. Drones, a helicopter and K-9s assisted in the search, police added.

The incident occurred outside Walmart Supercenter located on Outlet Collection Way.
