$500K Burglaries: Man Indicted For Multiple Incidents In Plainview, More, DA Says

John Cipolla, age 50, was indicted for the 2022 Plainview incidents, the Nassau County District Attorney announced on Friday, Nov. 10.

Cipolla, a resident of Long Island City, first began his alleged monthslong conspiracy on July 31, 2022.

Just before 10 p.m. that night, the DA’s Office said Cipolla, along with other unnamed people, broke into the ADI Global Distribution located at 101 Fairchild Avenue in Plainview, where they disabled the alarm and stole $285,000 worth of electronics.

Then, on Oct. 22, 2022, Cipolla struck again.

He and fellow Queens resident Jose De La Cruz broke into a Nassau County Auxiliary Police booth, located at 831 Hempstead Avenue. The pair stole two police radios.

Cipolla also stole two U-Haul trucks from a Jericho Turnpike U-Haul Center and, later that night, he met back up with De La Cruz for another heist.

According to the DA’s Office, the two broke into a Brink’s location in Plainview, stealing approximately $250,000 in quarters.

They loaded the coins into the U-Hauls and took their loot back to Queens.

Cipolla was arrested in July of 2023.

He is charged with:

  • Grand larceny, five counts of varying degrees;
  • Burglary, four counts;
  • Criminal possession of stolen property, four counts of varying degrees;
  • Criminal mischief, four counts; and
  • Conspiracy, two counts.

Thirteen of his 19 charges are felonies.

At his indictment, Cipolla pleaded not guilty. He is due back in court on Friday, Dec. 1.

He faces up to 25 years to life in prison as an eligible persistent felony offender.
